A new planning application
has been lodged for the Edinburgh skatepark to site
it above the pond in Inverleith park. The
objectors were quick to respond to the first application
& no doubt will be doing the same with this one.
So we need skaters, BMXers & anyone who supports
this facility going ahead in Inverleith Park to make
their voice heard in support of the skatepark. We have
made this as easy as possible to do by providing a form
bellow that, once filled in, will be sent to the planning
department registerring your support. The deadline to
submit your support for the skatepark is the
4th of August 2006.
You do not have to be an Edinburgh
resident to show your support either. In fact anyone
who thinks the skatepark is a good idea can register
their support using the form. Just be sure to fill it
out completely with your name, address and email or
it will not be valid.

Edinburgh has fallen behind the rest of Scotland
in the provision of facilities for non-traditional
sports and desperately needs this facility to
cater for the city’s many young people
and adults who participate in skateboarding,
BMX riding and in-line skating.
I believe the site proposed to develop this
facility is a suitable and appropriate location.
It is reasonably centrally located and is easily
accessed. A skatepark will enhance the sporting
and recreational facilities the park has to
offer and be an asset for local people and the
city as a whole.
