*Note:
As the deadline to show support for the planning applictaion
has passed the online form on this page is no longer
active. Thank you to everyone to took the time to
send in an email or letter of support for the skatepark.
The second planning application
to site the skatepark in Inverleith
Park has now been submitted & it requires as much
support as possible. As most people will be aware
the first application for the site above the pond
was met with a massive amount of objections, planning
have intimated they received over 700 letters in response
to the first application (although they weren't all
objections, some actually did support the proposal).
Now the second application is in for the site at the
pavillion at the entrance to Inverleith Park opposite
the botanics. The application submitted is an 'outline'
of the site & Clive Bowman (the architect responsible
for designing the skatepark) has indicated that at
this stage there may not need to be any major changes
made to the existing skatepark design.
The objectors were
quick to respond to the first application & no
doubt will be doing the same with this one. It's time
skaters, BMXers & anyone who supports this facility
going ahead in Inverleith Park had their voice heard
so support the skatepark by writing to or e-mailing
your local councillor, the director of Planning and
the councillors who make up the Planning Committee.
The deadline to submit your support for the park is
the 26th of November 2004.
Read on to find out how to do this....
Option 1:
To make it
as easy as possible you can use this form to
send an email with a generic message to Andrew
Holmes, the Director of Planning and the 15
councillors who make up the planning committee.
The email will
read as follows:
Subject: I
support the plan for the Skatepark in Inverleith
Park
I am writing
to show my support for the planned skatepark
in Inverleith Park. Edinburgh is falling behind
the rest of Scotland in the provision of Skate
and BMX facilities and is in desperate need
of this skatepark as soon as possible.
I agree that Inverleith Park is a suitable
location for the skatepark not only as it
is accessible whilst being reasonably centrally
located, but as it will also enhance the facilities
the park has to offer to local residents and
the wider Edinburgh area alike.
